The Craze For Broadband Internet
Computers have not been as popular as they are now, until the world had
known and had used the power of being connected through the Internet.
People have begun to understand the great help this technology offers
each and every individual around the globe. Internet does not only cater
to businessmen alone. But it also serves as a recreational and useful
matter to everyone. People use it for different reasons. Many use it for
business purposes, gathering new information or data, uploading,
keeping in touch with other people around the world, or just mere
entertainment. And to do all these things, one must have a reliable and speedy
connection that would not hinder the completion of these activities. And
that is why there is a great demand for broadband internet access, or
broadband for short.
Since Broadband Internet Access is considered as a high
figure-transmission speed internet connection, it is not surprising to know that the
market for it has grown so fast and still spreading. Based on a study
that was done in the United States of America, the percentage of the
Internet Broadband usage has dramatically grown from 6% in 2000 to about
30% in 2003. The contemporary subscriber broadband implementations reach
up to 30 Mbit per second. This shows that the present one is over a
hundred times quicker than the ISDN or Integrated Services Digital
Network- an example of a dial-up network which was used during the time when
the Internet was just gaining its popularity- that at times do not even
reach up to 56 kbit per second only.

Another factor why people want broadband internet so badly is that it
costs less than ISDN. But of course, one must still consider many
factors such as networks, countries and others because the expenses and
performance may vary. Broadband in this consideration refers to the
comparatively high bit rates in contrast to the dial-ups which has lower bit
rates and may well be called as narrowband. To make the definition of the
term, broadband, clearer, it is basically any kind of transmission
system which carries numerous information channels over a common cable.
Examples of this quick internet access that use this particular
transmission system are DSL and cable modem, while the network devices which back
up both are broadband modems and broadband routers.
The craze for broadband internet is still growing all over the world.
It not only showed that work and other activities that we do in the
internet could be made faster, easier and cheaper. But it also proved that
every individual wants to work efficiently and effectively which could
in turn change his or her own life for the better. With all these
technologies, what was once a hard work is now a task that is one click
away.
